Mufti Day for Maddie

By taking part in Mufti Day for Maddie on Friday September 16, your school or business will make a huge difference to the future of Christchurch 12-year-old, Maddie Collins. She needs a kidney transplant to survive. She only has a 2 percent chance of matching anyone in New Zealand so the most likely and best option for her is to have the transplant in America. The estimate cost that we have received for this is $350,000. There is urgency around her having the transplant as soon as possible as her health is deteriorating and she is required to be hooked up to the dialysis machine every day.  For more on Maddie, see this article published on Stuff.

How Mufti Day for Maddie works

Mufti Day for Maddie will be hassle-free for your school or business. It's also an opportunity for some positive publicity (See below). All you need to do is tell your staff or students to wear mufti on September 16 and take donations. They can then be deposited in the following (Fee Free) BNZ Bank Account. 02 0875 0143725 66. The account name is "Mufti Day for Maddie." It's that simple and Maddie needs your help. You can also contribute through this account if you can't take part in the day but would still like to help Maddie.

How can we make Mufti Day for Maddie even better?

Templates for you

At the bottom of this page you will see a series of templates you can download. The first ones are press release templates for schools and businesses. You can tailor and send these to local media. This should be of interest to them (particularly from schools) and give you some great publicity. The next two are stories  you can tailor for your newsletter or send out through social media. The last template is a flyer you can distribute to staff, students or parents as a reminder in the week leading up to "Mufti Day for Maddie." Obviously these are all totally voluntary. But by using them, together we can spread the word further.

Social Media

I will be posting on Maddie's Facebook Page and mine about the mufti day regularly. What would be fantastic is for you to share these posts. You can also post your plans on the page, and a photo of the day itself. The other thing with social media is to use a hashtag. If you tweet about the day or post on Facebook, end your posts with #muftidayformaddie. That will let us all see the mufti day stories.

List

Lastly, so I can keep you posted and keep an eye on the numbers taking part for publicity purposes, I'd like you to sign up for my mailing list. This is for this event only. The list will be destroyed after that and I will not do anything else with your information. You have my word on that. Please sign up here.

Lets help Maddie get the life she deserves.

Who am I

My name's Pete Burdon. I'm a media trainer and this is my website. But far more importantly, I'm a father with a daughter about the same age as Maddie. This could have been my daughter or your child.

That's why I believe we all have a responsibility to help. What I'm proposing is hassle-free but could do so much. Please join me in helping by taking part in Mufti Day for Maddie.
